One of the best parts about owning a pontoon boat is finding the perfect accessories for it. Some of our favorite fun accessories allow you to transform your pontoon boat from a standard, stock pontoon boat to a memorable personalized “second home”! Here are 10 of the most fun accessories that we have found for sale!
- RAVE Sports 00001 Pontoon Slide
What better fun pontoon boat accessory to have than a slide? Installing a slide for your pontoon boat will A) allow the younger kids or toddlers to have fun getting into the water from your boat and B) will turn your boat into a mini water amusement park for kids and adults alike! We REALLY like the Rave Sports Pontoon Slide because it is inflatable and you can tuck it under a chair after you are all done using it so avoid having a big “sail” on your pontoon boat while driving. Despite it being inflatable the Rave Sports Pontoon Slide is surprising durable and can be a source of entertainment for your family for years as long as it is kept out of the sun and maintained properly!
- LilliPad Diving Board
Want to be the coolest pontoon boat on the lake? How about getting a diving board? This little number by Lillipad is pretty sweet as it is not very cumbersome to install. You do have to install it with some bolts into your boat, but the best part about some of the Lillipad models is that you can get a nice quick release diving board that can be stored underneath a seat when not in use. Similar to the inflatable slide – the last thing you want when flying down the lake is a diving board creating a wind sail.
The Lillipad Diving board is very sturdy, well designed, and works as well as you could hope! It certainly is a little “less bouncy” than a standard pool diving board but you sure can’t beat the setting out on the lake on your boat!
- Pontoon Boat Accent Lighting
EL wire lighting under the deck of your boat isn’t something you’ll want every time you’re on the water, but when you do stay out until late it’s an incredibly fun pontoon boat accessory. The water under the boat lights up with vibrant color from the lights as you cruise around the lake and really adds to the atmosphere. Please note that you will have to check on the rules on the lake you are on. Many times they do not allow lights other than official “navigation” lights while you are in motion. Use under deck lighting when you are sitting on the dock or anchored in a safe harbor. We recommend using either marine grade LED lighting or also using electro-luminescent (EL) wire that uses a really small amount of electricity (and doesn’t drain your batteries)! Having vibrant colored lights around your boat is great fun when you are having a little party on the lake!
Installing boat lighting is incredibly simple. You can either plug into into your lighter plug if you do not use the lights very often or you can always wire them directly to your boat’s electrical system. power.
- Fence Mount Barbecue BBQ Grill
There are a variety of fun accessory options for adding a BBQ barbeque to your pontoon. One of our favorite BBQ grills actually mounts to the side of your pontoon fencing. The best part of these grills is that you can hang them outside your pontoon boat so you don’t risk dropping food or grease onto your nice pontoon boat carpeting! The fish will certainly appreciate it too!
The pontoon boat fun barbeque comes with the brackets only if you already have a portable camping grill or you can buy a complete kit including the grill as well!
- Bungee Dock Lines
Sure, these bungee cord dock lines don’t quite meet the “fun” pontoon boat accessory category but think about all of the cool docks you can easily tie up to with these bungee cords! These bungee cords are much quicker and more convenient than standard ropes, and they allows for a little play as the waves move the boat without rigidly strapping it to the cleats.
The bungee dock line from Airhead has foam pieces on it that help them to float and prevent it from rubbing up on the boat and causing any scratches.
- Corner Bumpers
Again, not necessarily falling in the “fun” category, but corner guards can sure save you some grief! Probably the most likely place for your pontoon to be damaged is at the dock as people moving around and waves pushing the boat pushes it up against the dock. Also, it’s common for pontoon boats to get dented in the corners of the deck if you don’t get your angle quite right as you approach the dock.
A great preventative measure is to purchase rubber bumpers for the four corners of your boat. It’s almost perfect protection, but there’s a caveat: they look kinda ugly. I’d love to see Taylor Made make a thinner version of these bumpers, and in black or silver.
When purchasing, be aware that there are two versions of these bumpers: one for more square cornered boats and one for more rounded cornered boats.
- Rail-Mount Rod Holders
There are a million rod holders on the market and they are all pretty similar, but this one is specific to pontoon boaters because it’s made to mount on the rail of your pontoon’s fencing. I like these rod holders because they come out from the boat a little so you aren’t bumping into the rods as you walk around the stern area of the toon. Cheap, made of durable metal with no plastic, and gets great reviews. The only caveat is that I wouldn’t use these for saltwater fish or salmon as they aren’t sturdy enough. But they’ll be fine for kokanee, walleye, trout, panfish, bass, and just about anything else.
- Mpow Waterproof Case, Dry Bag
So who reading this has forgotten about their wallet in their pocket and jumped right into the lake from your pontoon boat or worse yet, your cell phone? This waterproof case is a great way to avoid any potential “accidents”!
There are not many activities that people take part in without their cell phones with them, and pontoon boating is no exception! While boating you want your phone handy to play music on the stereo system, take pictures, and keep in touch with your friends, but it also means that sooner or later, you are sure to ruin a phone in the water.
This dry bag cell phone case is unique because it allows you to use the phone normally through the plastic not worry about getting it wet. It’s easy to slip the phone in and has a convenient lanyard to tie to your PFD or swim suit. Next time you ruin a phone, you’ll hate yourself for not spending $10 on this easy solution. I put one in my boat’s console so that as soon as I step into the boat to get it prepped for launch, I put my phone in the case first.
- Monster Swing Turboswing Towbar
Most pontoons just aren’t built for performance, but that doesn’t mean you can’t get a good ski or tube ride out of a pontoon or tritoon boat. To do it well, however, pontooners need every advantage they can get for a fast and smooth ride for the skier or tuber. The monster swing is expensive, but gets the rope above the motor and wake to reduce drag, and also has a pulley on the bar that slides around to add smoothness to the ride even with pontoon boats that can’t turn as sharply.
Frankly, I think it’s strange that so many of the pontoon boat manufacturers are still manufacturing boats without a ski tow bar, but it’s the fact of the matter.
- Pontoon Fire Pit – Pedestal Pontoon Fireplace
Who would have thought that you can actually find a fire pit on your pontoon boat? Now, you can warm up by the fire on those cool nights on the lake. This kit allows you to put a fire pit right in the deck of your ‘toon!
This fire pit works pretty well because it install right into the standard post insert and keep the firepit up at “table level” instead of down by the deck. This one is particularly convenient because it hooks up to a portable/compact 1 pound propane tank and is fully adjustable.
A fire pit in the pontoon definitely sets your boat apart with something incredibly unique.
